Delight Delight

This post has been a long time coming! The Delight offices have been one of my biggest projects to date, and from initial meeting to launch party (complete with a burlesque dancer in a giant birdcage) the whole project took just a month (over February and March). I won’t lie, it was full on but what we created - pure magic!

I’ve been sharing bits and pieces over on instagram but figured it was time to give you the full tour in to the world of Delight!

The entrance opens in to the bright pink hallway in Dulux “Taradale”. For maximum impact we painted all the doors, trim and ceiling in the same colour - picking out the archway in minty Dulux “Kohimarama”. The wall decal is a custom design based on the goddess Arya Tara. The runner is from Trademe and the table and mirror are both from Kmart. We added changeable led lighting to add even more pink!

Delight are a fabulous female owned and run experience and communications agency based here in Auckland. They had this new office - a cute villa right in the heart of creative Ponsonby but the whole thing was white with grey carpet and they had bigger and better ideas to make a space that really reflected this exciting next stage of business.

CEO Hanna Hegan Ngatai came to me with a mad but brilliant brief and then trusted me completely - we painted ceilings pink, curtained an entire room, stuck up huge custom decals, put pink palm trees all over the show and made what you see here, together.

We wanted to make a practical space that was a whole bunch of fun, that expressed some hardcore feminist (and feminine) sentiments while still functioning as great workspace. It’s a place to be inspired and empowered.

To keep the main office light and bright we kept the side walls white while taking the colour Dulux “Te Atatu” up the back wall and over the ceiling. A hand painted mural using the colours found through out the rest of the office echos the agencies branding and provides a backdrop to the large print by Tyler Spangler. Custom painted plants are lit with LEDs for a twist on the traditional office plants situation!

In the meeting room a large glass table provides a practical and bright working space. The centre of the mural on the wall is painted in Dulux Dry Erase so can be used as a whiteboard for brainstorming. The walls and ceiling (and the table base) are painted in Dulux “Rabbit Island”, the top middle artwork is by Tyler Spangler and the rest are by me and feature people and things significant to the Delight team. The wire chairs are from Bunnings and the rug is from Irugs.co.nz.

The media room was a rear room with nearly no natural light - we made the most of this by creating a curtained, Twin Peaksy room perfect for viewing presentations in style. Fully dimmable lighting makes it as bright or as moody as you like. Moveable ottomans and chairs make it a flexible space. The couch is a sofa bed for anyone working late. Both the sofa bed and rug are from Trademe. The ceiling is painted in Dulux “Riccarton”.

I won’t lie, this project was intense and hard but also a hell of a lot of fun. You don’t often get a client who is so open to a vision and making it happen in every way possible (and puts in the hard yards too). I’m so proud of this place and what it represents.

A big thanks to Dulux for sponsoring the paint for this project - and never once questioning just how many different pinks I needed!

And of course to my friends Hanna and Holly at Delight for just being the coolest clients ever. ❤️
